To be honest, we aren’t even excited about July 4th anymore. Not one bit. Sure, there will be fireworks and barbecues, but it just doesn’t seem right to celebrate our independence without Takeru Kobayashi. The skinny Japanese kid who eats more hotdogs in an hour than we could eat, well…ever, has withdrawn from this year’s annual July 4 Nathan's Famous hot dog eating event at New York's Coney Island after being diagnosed with jaw arthritis.
